About the event

William Line lived in Essex County at the time of the American Revolution. When the war broke out, Line joined the Essex County Militia. For several years, because of its proximity to the greatest concentrations of British and Hessian troops in New York and the enemy's temporary occupation of New Jersey at large, the Essex Militia is credited with fighting in such battles as Trenton, Assunpink Creek, Princeton, Monmouth, Connecticut Farms and Springfieldd. Details of Line's individual service record are not known. But he was a patriot. The current president general of the NSSAR, Michael Elston, is a descendant of William Line and will attend the ceremony with the NJSSAR Color Guard to honor Line's memory with an SAR Patriot Grave Marker.
